Brand profile

Bau Manufaktur Vill in Mertingen brings four business areas together under one roof: a planning office, a property developer, a construction company and a landscaping business. Building is turnkey, planning is done in-house.

That is both the distinction and the difficulty: a client wanting to build on a plot, a buyer looking for a finished apartment and a client in civil and structural engineering have almost nothing in common – except that all of them are in the right place at Vill.

Project definition

Showing four divisions in one website without creating the impression of a general store: that was the actual task. Each division speaks to different people, and someone interested in a new-build apartment does not want to read through civil engineering first.

Added to that is what a construction company needs most urgently today: people. Skilled workers choose the business that has something to offer them – and in construction that often simply means being home in the evening.

Scope of work

Logo and visual identity, website, brochures for the development projects, hoarding banners and advertising.

Brief

The name says it: a manufactory, not a construction group. That attitude had to become visible without turning nostalgic about craftsmanship. We developed the visual identity, the website and the print materials, and thought through client communication from the first enquiry to handover.

The solution

One brand for four divisions

The logo and visual identity carry all four business areas without any of them looking like an afterthought. “Manufaktur” – manufactory – is not decorative here: it describes the standard that connects the four areas, and gives the design its direction.

Brochures for the development projects

Every development gets its own presentation – units, energy standard, location, floor plans. Buying an apartment is a decision about decades, and people want to have seen everything beforehand. A brochure that leaves questions open costs viewings.

Hoarding banners

The site hoarding is the most honest advertising medium this industry has: it stands for months exactly where visible work is going on, and it gets read by neighbours and passing traffic. The banners are designed to work from a moving car.

Careers, not job ads

“Build where you live” – the careers section leads with the argument that counts in construction: a permanent contract, fair pay and sites in the region rather than long journeys. Anyone looking for skilled workers has to talk about everyday life, not about corporate values.

Outcome

A website with room for four divisions without any of them obscuring the others – and advertising that works where this industry is actually seen: at the hoarding and in the region.
